Regrettably there are times when rescue organizations can no longer accept new fosters into their program. As with all aspects of life today's economy has had an impact on rescue organizations and Pets-4-Pets is no exception. The numbers of foreclosures and pet owners unable to monetarily care for their pets has vastly increased the influx of pets needing placement into rescues. While it is with much regret that Pets-4-Pets has reached a point where we have no available foster care givers or funding to enable us to continue taking new fosters into our program at this time we offer the following suggestions in an effort to assist you in placing your pet(s) in a safe and informed manner.
- Petfinder.com has a tab at the top of their web page entitled Shelters and Rescues. If you select this tab a list of shelters and rescues arranged by state will appear. We suggestion that you contact as many of these organizations as possible to see if they can be of assistance. Please keep in mind that not all of the organizations listed are no-kill so before you surrender your pet to any organization verify their no-kill status.
- Advertising in publications, veterinarian offices, pet supply stores, farm stores, grocery stores, etc. is another option. We recommend that you put a monetary value on your pet to deter less than well meaning inquiries. NEVER SAY FREE TO GOOD HOME. Additionally, we suggest that you interview and screen interested parties very carefully before surrendering your pet to a stranger. Feel free to reference our adoption application as a guide to place your pet into a loving home. Pets-4-Pets Adoption Application is retrievable via this site under Forms.
- Pets-4-Pets Cats Rescue, Inc. will also afford you the opportunity to bring your cat(s)/kitten(s) to be showcased at our Adoption Open Houses. Our organization will offer you cage space at our Open Houses provided you show veterinary proof that each pet you intend to showcase has been spayed or neutered, has current distemper and rabies vaccinations, has recently been tested and is negative for FELV and FIV and has remained indoors since the time of testing, has been recently de-wormed and is free of fleas/ear mites. Persons wishing to exercise this option are responsible for transporting their pet(s) to and from Open House events. If you are interested in this option please call 240/405-4564 to make arrangements.
